I was accompanied for half of the run by Jerry Dunn, America's Marathon Man. Jerry was accomplishing feats of distance in the late 80's and 90's which earned him that moniker. Among other examples to celebrate the 100th running, he ran the Boston Marathon course 25 consecutive times before running it the 26th time in the actual race. He has most recently been running very successful marathon and ultramarathon races in South Dakota. He has now sold them off and is planning to "come out of retirement" to run 70 kilometers to celebrate his 70th birthday and raise money for Special Olympics.

I'm proud to now call Jerry my friend. In addition to being an inspiration he let me stay at his house when in Hot Springs, South Dakota to run at Wind Cave. He's a great guy.
